SunsetHigh Seas Family Adventure

Walt Disney World officials are putting the finishing touches on its first ever cruise ship, called Disney Magic. It's an 85,000 ton ocean going vessel, and is expected to be launched this summer.

The ship will be docked in Port Canaveral, a short transfer from Disney World or the Orlando International Airport. Disney Magic will accommodate 1,750 passengers on three or four-day journeys. (Disney will offer vacations that begin with a three or four-day stay at Walt Disney World resort.)

Designed with a classic exterior reminiscent of early 20th-century ships, Disney Magic will feature 875 staterooms and imaginative dining. Guests will be able to eat in three themed dining rooms. Animator's Palate is expected to be a big favorite. Food will be California cuisine, and the decor straight from The Wizard of Oz. Everything will be in black and white until a giant television screen gradually changes the room into a sea of brilliant hues.

Along for the ride will be the Disney characters, helping guests enjoy a huge assortment of recreational activities-biking, dancing, golf, theater, shopping, and swimming. The ship will stop at the port of Nassau in the Bahamas and spend a day on Disney's private Bahamian island of Cataway Cay, a l,000 acre tropical oasis for beaching, exploring, and dining.

The seven-day, land/sea vacation prices will range from $1,229 to $3,539 per person, double occupancy.

Note: You'll need a passport or a birth certificate to visit the Bahamas.
